Media assessment learner response

1) Type up your feedback in full (you don't need to write the mark and grade if you want to keep this confidential).

Grade = 19/30 (6-)

- Question 3: Good try at clear point, good details + media terms, weak ending. Great effort at analysis. Now: add more nuance (detail) of each part e.g bottle shape, good choice to push into level 4.

- Question 5: Point needed about message, good start + use of media terminology.

- Question 6: connotation needed.

2) Read the mark scheme carefully. Write down the mark you achieved for each question:

Q1: 1

Q2: 1

Q3: 9

Q4: 2

Q5: 4

Q6: 2

3) Identify one of your stronger questions. Why did you do better on this question? Use the mark scheme to help you with this.

- My strongest question was question 3. I used different elements in the text and went into depth to the meaning and use of them.

4) Identify one of your weaker questions. Why did you score lower on this particular question? Use the mark scheme to help you with this.

- My weakest question was question 6. I failed to answer the question correctly by straying off and talking about topics not included in the media text.

5) Finally, write a new, detailed paragraph for Question 3 - the unseen text 12 mark question. Use the mark scheme to identify anticipated content you can add to your response and make sure you refer to the text and write in detail.

- In the Heat advert featuring Beyonce, a famous and talented idol, the advertisement tries to convey luxury and seductiveness to the consumer by using low-key lighting, a deep red and a revealing dress. All these connote to luxury as red is seen as a rich, seductive colour to wear and using this product will make you feel sexy. With the use of a medium shot, you can see her legs which are slightly positioned open, reinforcing that seductive vibe, alongside her cleavage and facial expression. This method of using low-key, red, dark lighting emphasises a romantic product and possibly makes couples, mostly women feel the need to purchase this product. The use of a celebrity (Beyonce) draws the consumers in as they recognise and trust this icon since Beyonce is a world-wide known artist who is very successful, further reinforcing the consumers desire to purchase the product.

  1. Good use of media terminology in the re-write (such as emphasise and reinforce) to prove your points. Well done!
